S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) is one among the top ten B-Schools in India.

SPJIMR is a founder member of National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) set up by Wadhwani Foundation. The Center for Entrepreneurship has a team of entrepreneurial faculty who have participated in faculty development programs conducted by Babson College, Harvard Business School and University of California, Berkeley. It is well networked with the eco-system of entrepreneurs, investors and experts.

The Center launched Start Your Business (SYB) Program in 2006.The program seeks to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, attitude and network required to launch a successful start-up. More than 150 participants have gone through the process of shaping their business ideas into start-up ventures of which over 30 have successfully launched their ventures by now.

What is the Start Your Business program?

Start Your Business (SYB) is an entrepreneurial education program that serves the needs of budding entrepreneurs who have a business idea and are keen to convert it into a sustainable business. This program will assist you in acquiring the knowledge, skills and attitude required to realize your dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur. You get the opportunity to network with entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, marketers, service providers and others from the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The SYB program is now being offered as a Blended Learning Program (BLP) on Reliance World’s Virtual Classroom platform powered by a world-class Video Conferencing infrastructure. SYB-BLP is designed to offer a blend of campus sessions at SPJIMR, Mumbai followed by Virtual Classroom sessions on Reliance World’s Virtual Classroom platform.

Virtual Classroom @ Reliance World simulates a real classroom environment wherein participants interact face-to-face with the faculty just the way they would in a real classroom—seeing, hearing and even asking questions.

For whom

This program is for anyone aspiring to become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs in the early stages of setting up their business venture will also find this program very useful.

Methodology
A blend of classroom sessions at SPJIMR, Mumbai and Virtual Classroom sessions using Video Conferencing technology. The Virtual Classroom sessions would be conducted on weekends.

Module II: Developing your business idea to a sustainable opportunity

  1. Identifying compelling unmet needs,

  4. Market and industry attractiveness
  5. Developing the business model
  6. Market research for a start-up, market size estimation
  7. Mentoring participant’s ideas into business opportunity/insights from entrepreneurs, marketers and investors
  8. Presentation of participant’s identification of business opportunity

Module III: Managing the start-up

  1. Checklist for starting up
  2. Costing and pricing
  3. Company financials and cash flow
  4. Bootstrapping operations
  5. Go to market strategy/digital marketing
  6. Becoming an entrepreneurial manager
  7. Plan B
  8. Raising finance/valuation/role of VC

Module IV: Developing an actionable Business Plan

  1. Preparing a Business Plan
  2. Business Plan Tutorials
  3. Presentation of 1st cut business plan to investors / seed funds / entrepreneurs

The participants get a chance to visit the SPJIMR campus for the final Business Plan Presentation

S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) is a constituent unit of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, which was founded in 1938 by the then Kulpati Dr. K.M. Munshi and 53 other eminent professionals. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.
