Safety Brigade launches its Pest Control Management initiative over Video Conferencing
Information and Communication Technology is the driver of the new economy and to see it being used to disseminate information and transfer knowledge to the agrarian community—one of the oldest and important economic sectors in India—is indeed a significant leap.
In a pan-India launch conducted over Video Conferencing, Safety Brigade introduced "Safenet"—an initiative aimed at better pest control management.
Dignitaries from the Ministry of Agriculture and farmers from over nine major towns across India participated in the launch event from a Reliance World in their respective cities and towns. The hour-long video conference, addressed by Dr. Satyabroto Banerjee, CEO, Safety Brigade, outlined the scope and objectives of Safenet to the farmers.
Safenet is modelled around the ideology of using the Global Internet Network for Safe and Judicious Pesticide Use. The event was also webcast to fifteen different locations in India & two abroad and was covered by Sahara and Mahua TV.
Safety Brigade is an NGO that works towards helping farmers protect their produce against the damage caused by pests. |
"I am grateful to everyone at Reliance World for making Safenet a success. Farmers suffer from inadequate and untimely information resources. Reliance can bring about an agricultural revolution by providing the agrarian community with meteorological information, real time data of prevailing crop prices in various mandis, tele-medicine, health services, and online education. Good Luck”.
